Please read the terms of this legal disclaimer carefully – it contains important information about the service Glasgow Taxis Limited (“Glasgow Taxis”, “we”, “our”, “GTL”) provides you, the customer, including your rights and, sets out our obligations and limitations when you use Glasgow Taxis App/Website/Services and in the event that anything goes wrong.
About us:
These Terms are entered into between you, the customer, and Glasgow Taxis Limited, a registered society, registration number SP2522RS, and having its registered offices at 140 Boden Street, Dalmarnock, Glasgow G40 3PX. You can contact us at office@glasgowtaxis.co.uk and 0141 429 7070.
Your booking:
When you book with us, you will provide a collection time, and you may specify the time by which you need to arrive at your destination. While we will endeavour to collect you/your passengers at the collection time provided and to arrive at the specified destination on time, the very nature of road transport means we cannot guarantee that will happen.
You are responsible for ensuring that the collection time you have provided allows you sufficient time to reach your destination, taking into account any unexpected events that could occur and delay your journey or our vehicle on its way to collect you.
Please be aware that there are numerous factors beyond our control which may affect or delay your journey with us. For this reason, our service is provided on the basis that Glasgow Taxis cannot accept responsibility for any inconvenience, loss, costs, or other consequences arising from delays or failure to provide the agreed service due to circumstances reasonably considered outside our control.
Such factors include, but are not limited to:
- adverse weather conditions;
- accidents involving our vehicles;
- traffic congestion, road works, road closures, accidents or diversions; or
- unexpected mechanical breakdowns despite a reasonable preventative maintenance programme.
Accordingly, Glasgow Taxis makes no guarantee or representation that a taxi will be available to accept a booking made via our website or in App, nor that a taxi will arrive at the time specified in your booking through any of our booking channels, including our website, Glasgow Taxis App, Interactive Voice Recognition or call centre.
Fare Estimator/ Quote:
Fares displayed by the ‘Estimate Fare’ feature are estimates only. These are based on shortest route (not necessarily quickest route, the quickest route may attract a higher fare), and average traffic conditions. Fare estimates are indicative only, this is not a quote and cannot be used for payment negotiations; the final fare charged can vary due to physical locations; traffic conditions; time of day; Glasgow City Council Extra tariff card charges; waiting time and route driven. Hires outside of Glasgow City Boundary may be Fixed Price, agreed and paid before the taxi moves off from the pickup point. The estimate does not include surcharges based on tolls, airport parking charges or Credit Card charges.
Pricing and payment:
Estimates for fare are dependent on traffic and do not include any unsociable hour’s charges. If we provide a “price promise”, you will only pay the “price promise” even if the meter price is showing as more. Please contact Glasgow Taxis for a price promise and activation. Areas outside of Glasgow including all Airport hires should be checked with our call centre for price and travel time.
Preferred Service & Registered Credit Card
Our accepted payment methods are card or payment on board (cash). We accept Visa, MasterCard & Switch in GBP cards. For Glasgow Taxis App bookings, you may also use Apple Pay or Google Wallet to make payment.
Please be aware of the following when making card payments:
- Registered cards can only be used for journeys not exceeding £50. You will be able to use the vehicles Chip & Pin card machine for journeys exceeding £50.
- Glasgow Taxis reserve the right to refuse any hire without reason.
- A minimum price is applicable on any hire.
- A cancellation charge is applicable on any booking which has been dispatched to a taxi and the booking has been accepted.
- A No Contact charge is applicable if after 10 minutes at the requested pick up we fail to make contact. A call to the telephone number provided will be made before the taxi is stood down.
For website and Glasgow Taxis App bookings, unless otherwise agreed, all charges are due immediately upon a booking being placed and payment will be facilitated by Glasgow Taxis using the preferred payment method associated with your account, after which Glasgow Taxis will send you a receipt by email or by prompt notification to your mobile phone. If your primary payment method is not able to be charged, Glasgow Taxis may use a secondary payment method if available. If your payment method(s) are unavailable, we reserve the right to continue to try to take payment. Charges are inclusive of applicable taxes including VAT unless specifically stated otherwise.
Card payments over £30 and/or jobs terminating out with of Glasgow, may be charged to your card at the start of any journey. If a card payment can’t be processed because of any technical issue by Glasgow Taxis Ltd, the vehicle, or any third party, the driver has the right to refuse the hire. Alternatively, you may have to find an alternative method of payment before a journey commences.
Availability of taxi:
Glasgow Taxis Ltd operates on a first available, closest vacant taxi basis and is not a guaranteed service. This is reflective of the taxi industry.
Whilst every endeavour is made by Glasgow Taxis Ltd to fulfil your booking at the requested time, it is not always possible to achieve. The taxi industry is a demand driven transport service and events out with our control, such as weather and traffic delays and other events can impact on our normal service levels. Some examples of events that can affect our service levels include, but are not limited to, concerts, sporting events, Public Holidays and Bank Holidays. Glasgow Taxis does not accept liability for any costs incurred for any late bookings or non-arrival.
Our limitation of liability:
Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes any liability which cannot legally be limited or excluded, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence and liability for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation or alters your rights as a consumer that cannot be excluded under applicable law.
Glasgow Taxis Ltd does not give any warranties or representation in relation to any service supplied by this website, or any information contained therein; or accept any responsibility for any loss or damage which may be occasioned through your use of this website or your reliance upon any information contained in this website.
It is the responsibility of the passenger to ensure that any belongings or items that the passenger is travelling with are secure at all times. Glasgow Taxis Ltd accepts no liability for the loss, theft or damage to passengers’ property or belongings, however sustained or caused.
Glasgow Taxis reserves the right to stop any booking without notice and / or suspend access to any of our services without notice.
Your personal data:
Your contact phone number may be given to your driver for job related questions only. All data that is kept for recording and business purposes will be stored securely in accordance with the Data Protection principles set out in the General Data Protection Legislation (this includes all applicable laws relating to the protection of personal data including the UK General Data Protection Regulation (as supplemented by section 205(4)) of the Data Protection Act 2018), the Data Protection Act 2018 and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (SI 2003/2426). In the course of your booking with
Glasgow Taxis, it will be necessary for Glasgow Taxis to process personal data relating to you. A full explanation of how we use your personal data and your rights in relation to your personal data are set out in Glasgow Taxis’ Privacy Notice, which is available on our website www.glasgowtaxis.co.uk. For the avoidance of doubt, the Privacy Notice does not form part of, and is not incorporated into this Agreement and it may be varied, from time to time, by the Company.
Your Obligations when using the Glasgow Taxis App/Website/Services:
- When using the Glasgow Taxis App/Website/Services, you must comply with all applicable laws. You may only use the Glasgow Taxis App/Website/Services for lawful purposes and for the purposes for which they were intended as otherwise referenced in these Terms. You must not misuse Glasgow Taxi’s mobile applications and/or websites or attempt to defraud either us or third-party providers.
- You must provide accurate and complete information when you register an account and when using the Glasgow Taxis App/Website/Services.
- Your account is personal to you. Your account cannot be licensed or shared unless expressly permitted by Glasgow Taxis. Once you have set up an account, you:
- may not register more than one account unless we agree otherwise in writing;
- may not allow third parties to use your account or transfer your account to a third-party.
- must keep your account information accurate, complete and up-to-date.
- must keep your login details safe and confidential at all times; and
- must tell us immediately if you have any reason to believe that someone else knows your username or password or if you suspect that someone else is using your account.
- You will be responsible for paying any fees or charges that may be incurred as a result of the provision of Glasgow Taxis or third-party services requested through your account.
- You must not, in your use of the Glasgow Taxis App/Website/Services, cause any nuisance, annoyance, inconvenience, or property damage, whether to the third-party provider, Glasgow Taxis or any other party.
Dispute Resolution Process:
In the event of a dispute, we would ask you to raise a complaint using the contact details in the “About Us” section above. In the unlikely event that we cannot resolve the dispute, we will work with you to discuss a way forward to resolve the dispute, which may include mediation. Glasgow Taxis’ right to refer the dispute to a court is expressly reserved. Glasgow Taxis does not commit to using an online dispute resolution platform to resolve consumer disputes.

Governing Law and Jurisdiction:
These Terms shall be exclusively governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Scotland, and the Scottish courts shall have exclusive jurisdiction to resolve any disputes.
General:
Glasgow Taxis is a Registered Society run by members for members, with the main purpose of securing work and dispatching work to our members. Glasgow Taxis does not employ drivers. A number of our members own vehicles and rent them to licenced taxi drivers. Additionally, not all taxis and drivers registered by Glasgow City Council are members of Glasgow Taxis.
All content provided on this website, our Glasgow Taxis Ltd app, and online booking facility is the exclusive copyright of Glasgow Taxis Ltd. We reserve the right to edit, remove, or store any of our online material at our discretion.
We keep these Terms updated and we amend them from time to time. Please remember to check these Terms before you use the Glasgow Taxis App/Website/Services, as the latest set of Terms will apply in each case
