Glasgow Taxis and Spirit Aid Join Forces for Christmas Toy Appeal
As the festive season approaches, a time renowned for joy and giving, Glasgow Taxis and its members are uniting for a local cause – the Spirit Aid Christmas Toy Appeal. This year, we want to go above and beyond to help the charity bring more smiles to those in our community who are facing hardships.
Founded by Scottish actor, David Hayman in 2001
Spirit Aid is dedicated to alleviating the suffering of children and young people whose lives have been affected by poverty, neglect, abuse, lack of opportunity, humanitarian crisis or even blighted by war.
A Beacon of Hope: Jim Ridley and the Toy Appeal
For the past nine years, Glasgow Taxis’ member Jim Ridley has been heavily involved with the charity and at the forefront of their annual Christmas Toy Appeal. His commitment to collecting toys for children living in hardship is a true testament to the spirit of community and compassion that defines Glasgow. It’s more than just a gesture; it’s a beacon of hope for many.
Bringing Joy to Christmas
With more local families and children facing hardship in these challenging times, in addition to presents for the children, Spirit Aid provides food hampers to people in crisis who need a quick and non-judgemental response to their food needs.
It’s amazing how much a simple food hamper can make such a difference and give such relief, Spirit Aid and the work we do makes a big difference to families at a critical time.
Spirit Aid works with a wide range of care professionals such as doctors, health visitors, social workers, and schools to identify people in crisis offer them speedy and practical help.
Glasgow Taxis: Playing Our Part
Glasgow Taxis’ wonderful staff and drivers are eager to contribute in the best way they know – by aiding Santa in this year’s toy drive.
Here’s How You Can Get Involved:
Individual Donations: We can accept new games and toys at Taxi House (Headquarters – 140 Boden Street), on behalf of the charity up until Friday the 15th of December – every toy counts!
Local Business: If you’re a local business keen to contribute but need assistance in delivering your donations, Glasgow Taxis will gladly collect them – free of charge. Plus, you might just get a shout out on our social media channels (provided you are not camera shy, of course)! Email Gillian between now and the 13th December to arrange a collection.
Our Commitment
Glasgow Taxis isn’t just coordinating this initiative; we’re wholeheartedly part of it. We’re pledging £1500 worth of toys and food parcels. Furthermore, we’ll be actively involved in transporting donations from our headquarters and any local businesses that wish to contribute.
Please donate today if you can
