Scottish women’s football champions Glasgow City FC are being backed for more success by Glasgow Taxis in a new partnership brought to life in the most innovative way.

Glasgow Taxis is proud new matchball sponsors of Glasgow City, who won the SWPL title for the 16th time in a May, with the sponsorship announced the day after City opened the new league season with a 3-0 win over Hibernian at Petershill Park.

All in attendance on Sunday enjoyed one particularly unique Glasgow City debut as a branded ‘mini’ Glasgow Taxi transported the matchball on to the pitch and to the match referee ahead of kick-off. As one innovative way of activating the sponsorship between Glasgow Taxis and Glasgow City, the football taxi – kindly decorated by our friends at Cube Wraps – will become tradition as part of the pre-match routine at all City’s home matches this season.

The sponsorship agreement also includes Glasgow Taxis branded bibs for City’s ball girls who are from the GC Foundation (Academy) and a branded matchball podium, while Glasgow City will also have their very own full-sized branded taxi on the road very soon.

Glasgow Taxis chairman Dougie McPherson was special guest at the Peasy on Sunday to mark the first day of the sponsorship, to witness the debut of the football taxi and to enjoy the comfortable home win.
