Glasgow Taxis to go the extra mile for charity this weekend
50p from every fare on Sunday will go towards the STV Children’s Appeal
Passengers using Glasgow Taxis on Sunday will also be doing their bit for charity, with 50p from every fare going towards the STV Children’s Appeal.
Glasgow’s friendly and reliable taxi service will again be operating their successful 50p Sunday campaign, with money from every hire on September 30 going towards the fight to eliminate child poverty in Scotland.
It is the second time this year that Glasgow Taxis – chosen as the Glasgow Welcomes Service Champion at the recent Inspiring City Awards – has lent its support to the STV Children’s Appeal, with the organisation also raising more than £3500 for the cause in May.
Vice Chairman Jack Ferguson, speaking on behalf of the Glasgow Taxis Ltd executive committee, said: “We are pleased to be once more supporting the STV Children’s Appeal through 50p Sunday. It is a very worthy cause and one that does so much to support those young people in Scotland who need it most.
“Anyone using a Glasgow Taxi on Sunday can know they are doing their bit, with a chunk of their fare going towards the appeal.”
STV presenter Jennifer Reoch said: “The ongoing success of the STV Children’s Appeal is down largely to the generosity of those individuals and firms who continue to offer their support, and we are grateful to Glasgow Taxis for again raising funds through their 50p Sunday campaign.
“Events like this will hopefully take us closer to eradicating child poverty in Scotland and every donation can make a big difference.”
