TROON PUB RAISES MORE THAN £8K FOR GLASGOW TAXI OUTING FUND
Generous Girvan’s regulars and local businesses dig deep to support annual trip to seaside
The owners and customers of a popular Troon pub have again shown their generous side by raising £8,205 for The Annual Glasgow Taxi Outing Fund.
Girvan’s Bar on the town’s Portland Street offered a warm welcome to the 100 Glasgow Taxi drivers who decorated their cabs to drive more than 300 children, who require additional support for learning, and their parents and carers for a day out at the Ayrshire seaside town last month.
For the sixth year in a row, staff and regulars at Girvan’s dressed up in costume and hosted an all-day party with raffles, karaoke and a DJ to give the visitors a warm welcome to Troon while raising money for the good cause.
This year they managed to raise a staggering sum for the charity thanks to the generosity of locals, customers and businesses in the town.
Connie Girvan, Girvan’s landlady, said: “For so many years now everyone in the pub has got involved in supporting Glasgow Taxis’ trip to Troon. The locals and regulars raise a lot of money and it’s always a really fun day when everyone comes together.”
Jim Buchanan, Glasgow Taxi Outing Fund Chair, said: “We are extremely grateful for the fundraising efforts made by the Troon locals every year.
“They are always welcoming to the event and most importantly help to raise awareness for a fantastic cause.”
