People make Glasgow. This Christmas, help us thank them.

Nominations are now open for Glasgow Taxis’ 12 Days of Community Heroes, returning for a third year to recognise people whose kindness, dedication and community spirit make a difference across our city.

Launched in 2024, the campaign reached more than two million people across social media in its first year, sharing the stories of remarkable people and giving them a well-deserved festive surprise. We returned in 2025, and this Christmas we’re looking forward to meeting another 12 community heroes, with your help.

You might remember Betty, the much-loved lollipop lady, or Annie from Govan HELP. Their surprises were a reminder of just how much people give to their communities, often without expecting any recognition in return.

Who is your community hero?

Perhaps it’s a neighbour who always checks in on others, a coach who gives young people confidence, a volunteer who turns up week after week, or someone quietly holding a community together.

We want to hear about people who go above and beyond for others, especially those who would never put themselves forward or expect a thank you.

It doesn’t have to be a grand gesture. Small acts of kindness, repeated day after day, can mean everything to the people who benefit from them.

Help us make the surprise happen

This year, we’re asking everyone to nominate through our online form. Tell us who your community hero is, what they do and why you think they deserve a special thank you.

The more useful detail you can share, the better we can understand their story and plan a surprise.

Do they volunteer at a community centre every Thursday morning? Run a regular training session? Is there someone at their club or organisation who could help us arrange a visit without giving the game away?

You don’t need to know every detail, but anything that helps us coordinate a surprise is welcome. Please share practical information privately through the form, rather than in social media comments.

Twelve surprises. A city full of kindness.

We know there are far more than 12 people across Glasgow who deserve recognition. While we can only surprise 12 individuals this festive season, your nominations help us discover the people and stories we might otherwise never hear about.

A nomination does not guarantee selection, but it gives us the chance to learn about someone making a difference.
