Generous Girvan’s regulars and local businesses dig deep to support annual trip to seaside
Big-hearted drivers and staff raise thousands for local worthy causes
Glasgow Taxis workers enjoyed an entertaining afternoon at the company’s recent Fun Day – and raised thousands of pounds for six different worthy causes in the process.
Drivers, staff and their families dug deep to take part in the tombola and to buy raffle cards and raised £2200 that will be split between five charities and a local school.
The money will be shared between Camglen Buddies, Glasgow City Basketball Club, Glasgow Women’s Library, Peak Possibilities and Scottish Sports Futures – all charities close to the hearts of Glasgow Taxis staff – and Dalmarnock Primary School.
Representatives from the charities attended Glasgow Taxis’ Boden Street headquarters to thank drivers and office workers for their generous gesture, and were welcomed there by Glasgow Taxis’ office manager, Helen Harvey.
She said: “We hold our annual Fun Day as a thank you to all our drivers, staff and their families but it’s also a great chance to help others in our local community.
“These charities carry out important work, many with disadvantaged or vulnerable members of society, and we are happy that we have been able to help them out in this way.
“It was great to meet their representatives and to learn more about the work that they do.”
